Her artistic journey spans prestigious institutions, including New York University, the New England Conservatory, and Mannes School of Music, culminating in a Master’s degree and an Honors Bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance. This decade-long academic exploration has laid the foundation for her performance style, which integrates deep scholarly insights with rich artistic expression. Training and Skills Lea’s piano artistry is rooted in a diverse lineage of mentorship. As a disciple of Eduardus Halim, the last successor of the legendary pianist Horace Parlan, she inherited the elegant touch tradition of the Romantic piano style. At the New England Conservatory, she studied under Victor Rosenbaum, delving into authoritative interpretations of Beethoven’s sonatas, thereby developing a rigorous understanding of classical structure. Additionally, through systematic training under Professors Zuo Yin and Li Siying at the Central Conservatory of Music and Xing Hai Conservatory of Music, she effectively incorporated the meticulous tonal control of the Chinese piano school into her personal performance style.
